I’ll be missing the election this year (don’t worry, I voted early) so I won’t be apart of the drama that unfolds every four years on Tuesday night. I’ll be on hiatus for the next couple of weeks but wanted to share this Election Day Cocktails article with you.
With all of the election coverage, calls and tv ads here’s something a bit more fun for you decide on. Which cocktail will you vote for? If you are having an election night party why not try El Presidente or Reforma?
Imbibe: 5 Election Day Cocktails.
Here’s the recipe from Imbibe Magazine for El Presidente to get you started:
El Presidente
This classic rum cocktail is refreshing and full of flavor. Be sure to use real grenadine for the best-tasting results.
1½ oz. rich white rum
1½ oz. Dolin Vermouth Blanc (Martini & Rossi or Cinzano Bianco are fine substitutes)
1 barspoon orange Curaçao or Grand Marnier
½ barspoon real grenadine
Thinly cut orange peel
Cracked ice
Tools: barspoon, mixing glass, strainer
Glass: cocktail
Garnish: maraschino cherry (optional)
Stir ingredients well with cracked ice and strain into a chilled glass. Twist a swatch of thinly cut orange peel over the top and drop in or discard as you prefer. Garnish, if desired, with a cherry.
Perfect!! This post came just in time. I’m thinking about an election night gathering. Perhaps a red and blue cocktails and guests can drink the color of their party.
Thanks for the idea!!
