A few weeks ago while jogging I noticed a new restaurant on Lake Shore path and promptly looked it up. Having “world class food, great service and entertainment,” the Shore Club sounded like a new concept for lake side dining.
I was excited for a restaurant on the lake to focus on food and cocktails. Come for the view and stay for the view – but that is all. It took about 20 minutes to get water after sitting down and things went downhill after that. The Beach Body Margarita was delivered in slushy form, not what we wanted and our dinner took another 30 minutes to arrive.
The server did say they are considering this summer a soft open so I might think about coming back next summer to see what improvements have taken place but with downtown prices I expect fresh food, good service, and great cocktails.
The Summer Salad was what you would expect from a college cafeteria salad bar – tasted bland and straight out of a bag. The Shore Club sandwich was a sad imitation of what someone thought a club sandwich should be. Soft bread, tasteless deli meat and over cooked speck/bacon. The lobster taquitos, more tacos – not sure why they are calling them taquitos, had not so fresh lobster and coleslaw that tasted like it sat open in the refrigerator for a couple of days and absorbed everything.
The view was beautiful, especially at sunset. Stop by if you want a nice view and maybe for a drink. And if you don’t mind the restroom is a porta potty.
