There is something for everyone at Tweet. Gluten-free, full bar, great beer selection, healthy options, comfort food options, Mexican dishes, vegetarian and vegan options, huge portions, toys brought to the table for kids, free Wi-Fi, plenty of parking on Sheridan, outdoor seating. You get the picture.
The decor is art deco meets mix match of local art covering every inch of the place. The lively atmosphere makes Tweet an ideal destination for a group of people who want to spend some time eating, drinking and chatting. I should note that it does get quite loud so not a great option for quiet breakfast/brunch. The menu is very extensive and features many gluten-free options as well as local and organic ingredients. Our server helped us break down the menu with some specific suggestions. Service is very friendly and fast. Cash only. Don’t worry they do have an ATM.
If you are coming here on the weekend chances are you will have to wait for a table. But killing time at the bar stocked with board games helps to fill the time. A nice bonus is the chocolate corn bread waiting for you when you get to the table.
The chai latte (can be made with soy or almond milk) is gigantic. Served with a cinnamon stick this 16+oz drink will leave you satisfied.
This may sound trivial but I was impressed by the fruit cups that are served with almost every dish. The fruit was seriously fresh and tasted like it came straight from the farmers market.
Judging by the fact there are seven breakfast burritos on the menu I thought it would be a safe bet to pick one. I went with the Numero Cuatro and was able to get three meals out of it. Every dish was literally a platter full of food. Flour tortilla stuffed with organic beans, organic eggs, avocado, choice of cheddar or chihuahua cheese.
Mary Lou Zelazny’s Biscuits & Gravy: Two buttermilk biscuits covered in a creamy pepper country gravy with Hebron Farm Amish Country Sausage. Deliciously rich with fresh biscuits.
- Corn Arepas: Three fresh corn arepas (savory pancakes), 2 organic eggs your way, house made guajillo sauce, creme fraiche, avocado, cilantro; organic black beans; fruit cup with option to add Chorizo or Soy-rizo. Surprisingly authentic for a restaurant that does not specialize in cuisine from Venezuela.
- 3 Uncaged Egg Omelette with chicken sausage, spinach and mushroom with mixed greens and fresh fruit cup.
-
Heavenly Havarti Omelette: Freshly sauteed Granny Smith apple slices and Danish Havarti cheese folded into an omelette; hash browns or salad; sliced tomatoes or toast; fruit cup.
Last but not least the Kids’ Pancakes with syrup and fruit. A basket of toys was also delivered to the table for my niece to play with.
